Grades 5-7. Explore the fundamentals of playwriting while bringing your unique perspective to life on stage. Through fun theater games, creative writing exercises, and peer collaboration, students will craft original short plays inspired by the theme "Color Our World"—celebrating vibrant voices, ideas, and imaginative storytelling. Sign up for the first class to attend the full series.
Family and friends are invited to join the final class on Friday, June 27, at 2:30, for a staged reading of student works.

Teaching Artist Biography:
MK Smith is an actress and performance artist from Orlando, FL. With over 10 years of experience in theater and as a teaching artist, she has collaborated with community organizations, educators, and performance artists to create diverse programs and workshops for individuals of all backgrounds. She obtained her B.S. degree in Sociology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL. At FAMU, she founded the college's first spoken word poetry organization, Voices Heard, which has been active since 2009. From 2014 to 2015, she toured with America's longest-running touring theater company, the National Players. While pursuing her MFA in Performance Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, she co-starred in the Amazon limited series Underground Railroad and the PBS documentary Spit on the Broom, which was also exhibited at The Guggenheim Museum in 2019.
MK has performed with local theaters, including Orlando Shakespeare Theater and New Generation Theatrical. In June 2022, she joined CFCArts as the Manager of Impact and Partnerships and is now excited to bring her passion for arts education to The Winter Park Playhouse as a Teaching Artist. A proud product of the Orlando arts community, MK is dedicated to fostering creativity and connection through the arts.
