The legendary face-off that took place on November 28th, 1973, pitted five American designers (Anne Klein, Stephen Burrows, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta and Halston) against five French designers (Yves St. Laurent, Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Emanuel Ungaro).

It’s Basic

USA, 2023, 77 mins.

Director: Marc Levin

In his 2020 presidential campaign, Andrew Yang proposed giving every American $1000 in monthly income, which helped bring the issue of Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) to national public awareness. By that time, several US cities had already begun GBI pilot programs which provided $500 per month to a select group of people for one year. It’s Basic follows the progress of the program against the backdrop on widening income gaps, politics and growing social concern.

Guaranteed in Gary follows a guaranteed income experiment in Gary, Indiana, where residents receive a gift of $500 per month for a year. The G.I.V.E. program is designed to reducehousehold stress and create the mental space to imagine new pathways to life  goals.
