Commitment. Generosity. Kindness.
Volunteerism at the Winter Park Library is an integral part of our mission. Volunteers not only connect with our community but connect in ways that leave a lasting impact on the people we serve. In the past year alone, 524 volunteers donated their time, talent, and generosity to a plethora of volunteer activities. Recently, we celebrated our adult volunteers at a brunch, rewarding their hard work with a festive morning!
From promoting affordable books in our New Leaf Bookstore to bolstering digital literacy in our Computer Lab to turning audio into art in our Recording Studio, and encouraging sustainability in our Seed Library - the list does not, and will never, end there. Through these efforts, our volunteers have donated approximately 11,585 hours to changing the lives of others and strengthening the efforts of our Library to reach those who need it most. This is not limited to the walls of our Library, but also online, where volunteers complete virtual volunteering assignments. These online efforts consist of strengthening our Archives to preserve our community’s history and making our online materials as accessible as possible for a wide range of demographics. Teen volunteers serve on the Advisory Board and Book Guild and recently cleaned up MLK Park. They help keep our Library materials clean and orderly and create beautiful books displays each month.
The Library has a lot to celebrate, and volunteers are in on the jubilation. From our grand opening to our first-ever Maker Day to our Summer Reading events and beyond, volunteers play a vital part in those celebrations. Their efforts alongside a dedicated staff, make these kinds of celebrations possible, further cementing a lasting and positive legacy that is 137 years in the making. Thank you, volunteers!
